On the death of Wolfgang Pehnt (1931 – 2023)

The Schelling Architecture Foundation mourns the loss of Wolfgang Pehnt, winner of the 1994 Schelling Theory Prize.

From the laudatory speech by Prof. Dr. Werner Durth:

“For decades, Wolfgang Pehnt’s work has set both provocative and guiding standards.
Wolfgang Pehnt consistently and systematically changes the frame of reference for his architectural criticism by critically evaluating works and designers and then changing the yardstick to examine individual buildings as elements of heterogeneous structures from a cultural-semiotic perspective, looking for breaks, contradictions and asynchronies.”
